Windows 10 Creators Update Crashes Appointment Manager 6

dbghelp.dll was the cause, let's fix it.

Windows 10 Creators Update Crashes Appointment Manager 6

We use ABS-USA's Customer Appointment Manager, and with the recent Windows 10 Creators Update it would crash randomly like every 2-10 minutes after opening it. Upon tracing the crashes, found that the update made changes to the 32-bit dbghelp.dll file, which after reverting that individual file did fix it.

Crash Info:

My Quick Fix Guide:

Symptoms: Program will crash after running for 2-10 minutes, the faulting
module is dbghelp.dll.

Solution: Reverting to the dbghelp.dll module in the past will resolve it.

Steps to Resolve:

  1. Open up C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (this is 32-bit System32 Folder... confusing yes)
  2. You have to modify the permissions of dbghelp.dll so your account can edit it.
  3. Move the file to a safe place in case you need to revert.
  4. Move the new file in the spot and replicate permissions.

That should solve it, also depending on your system configuration placing the
correct DLL directly in the Customer Appointment Manager install location may
resolve it too. Haven't tried it.

PS: Don't ask for help in the comments, seek help of an IT person if you need assistance. I do not offer assistance through comments.
