I have been running into a very strange situation on our game servers, at the point seems limited to UT2004 game servers that are running out of our ‘office’. It seems like when a player types it causes all players in the server to lag spike. This issue doesn’t make any sense, as I am logging ram usage, disk usage, and processes and nothing seems out of the ordinary. We’re only using about 15-20% of our total ram (16GB) and there aren’t any large spikes.

I’m presuming that it has something to do with our new routing equipment. I am sure it isn’t our connection outside of this place because I am getting the same thing and i play internally here. It could be the new Gigabit Rack Switch I put in when we moved the server here from Phoenix, AZ.

If you ever get a chance try going on our server and typing something, see if you run into the same issue. You would maybe think that it has to do with the server mutator or mods, but on all four of our servers this seems to be a problem, and each server has different mods running.
